Sad and frustrating.

WINNIPEG - With a third crash victim still fighting for her life, final charges are still pending against the alleged drunk driver who slammed into a car full of friends in St. Vital early Sunday morning.

Police said Tuesday that an 18-year-old woman remained in critical condition, more than two days after the Pontiac Sunfire she was riding in was T-boned by a red Chevrolet Cavalier at the intersection of St. Mary’s Road and Bishop Grandin Boulevard.

Recent Dakota Collegiate grads Senhit Mehari, 19, and Amutha Subramaniam, 17, died in the hours after the crash, which happened shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday. Two other victims in the Sunfire were treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.

The 17-year-old driver of the Cavalier, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, is facing numerous criminal charges, including driving impaired causing death and criminal negligence causing death. More charges may be added as the investigation continues, police repeated on Tuesday.
